CONGRATULATING the Mineola High School Robotics
Team upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Impact Award at the FIRST L.I.
Regional Competition on March 23, 2024

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in their
educational endeavors and competitions, have inspired and brought pride
to our majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish
themselves through excellence in scholastic competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Mineola High School Robotics Team upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Impact Award at the FIRST L.I.
Regional Competition at Hofstra University on March 23, 2024; and

WHEREAS, The Impact Award is the most prestigious award at the FIRST
L.I. Regional Competition; it honors the team that best represents a
model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals
of FIRST; and

WHEREAS, The Impact Award is presented to the team judged to have
the most significant measurable impact of its partnerships among its
participants and community over a sustained period, not just a single
build season.

WHEREAS, The Mineola High School Robotics Team looks toward the
future, ensuring that the next decade of leaders are set up for success;
they met with elected officials and school leaders to implement programs
that will help their FIRST team for years to come; and

WHEREAS, The name of the robot created by the Mineola High School
Robotics Team was "Maestro"; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
these students now stand honorably, with just pride in their
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by their teachers, mentors, and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Mineola High School Robotics Team upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Impact Award at the FIRST L.I.
Regional Competition on March 23, 2024; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted the Mineola High School Robotics Team: Makayla Apter-Quinn,
Skyla Azeharie, June Bang, Matthew Chen, Igor DeSouza, Robert Ely, Joe

Gloria, Eunice Lee, Nicole Liu, Julia Manevitz, Nathan Padinha, Andrew
Pereira, Noelia Quintao Lazaro, Logan Regueiferos, Julianna Reilly,
Haroune Sarhghni, Arnav Shah, MaryEllen Steiner, Devin Steiner, Matthew
Valente, Nicholas Yokaitis, Dylan Hsiu.
