COMMEMORATING the 10th Annual Pirates Weekend,
July 18-21, 2024

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
organizations of noble aims and accomplishments for their charitable
endeavors which serve New York communities at large; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorating the 10th Annual Pirates Weekend, held July 18-21, 2024, in
Sylvan Beach, New York; and

WHEREAS, The annual Pirates Weekend provides an opportunity for
charitable fundraising by means of an expressive series of events and
programs; and

WHEREAS, This much-anticipated weekend of fun includes such events
as: a classic car cruise night, a staged pirate invasion, breakfast with
pirates, live music, the showing of a pirate-related movie on the
Village Green, balloon twisting, treasure hunts, face painting, a pirate
zombie walk, family bonfires, a pirate themed puppy walk, a pirate boat
flotilla, and fireworks over the lake; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, attendees can enjoy shopping and dining at a
variety of vendors, crafters, and antique sellers' stores and tents; and

WHEREAS, Funds from the pirate kidnapping event benefit the Sylvan
Beach Volunteer Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, This commendable event is an asset to the State of New
York, boosting the local economy of the region, raising funds for
charity, and providing an opportunity for fun and socialization for
residents of the area and beyond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Annual Pirates Weekend, July 18-21, 2024; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the organizers of Pirates Weekend of Sylvan Beach.
