CONGRATULATING the Shenendehowa Boys Varsity
Volleyball Team, and Head Coach John Coletta upon
the occasion of capturing the 2022 NYSPHSAA Division
I Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, The Shenendehowa Boys Varsity Volleyball Team captured the
2022 NYSPHSAA Division I Championship with an impressive 32-30, 20-25,
25-12 and 25-22 triumph over Webster High School on Saturday, November
19, 2022, at the Albany Capital Center; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Plainsmen opened the day in pool play by
defeating Massapequa 25-19 and 25-17 garnering a .719 hitting percentage
to thwart any comeback bids by the Chiefs; and

WHEREAS, Utilizing outstanding talent and exceptional team play, the
Shenendehowa Plainsmen finished a spectacular season by winning their
first state title in school history capping off an undefeated season;
and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach John Coletta, a skilled and inspirational
tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into excellence;
and

WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the Shenendehowa Boys Varsity Volleyball
Team, from the opening game of the season to participation in the
championship, were a brotherhood of athletic ability, of good
sportsmanship, of honor and of scholarship, demonstrating that these
team players are second to none; and

WHEREAS, Coach John Coletta has done a superb job in guiding,
molding, and inspiring the team members toward their goals; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Coach John Coletta and these exceptional
athletes have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence
which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Shenendehowa Boys Varsity Volleyball Team; its members:
Paul Longo, Ryan Walker, Eric Lerner, Liam Conroy, Alex Bui, Anthony
Guetti, Bryce Bonville, Ryan Connors, Bennett Wilson, Luke Mahoney,
Colin Heath, Nate Grabowski, Dan Groneau, Bradyn Pomainville, Cade

Bernardi, Jake Mahoney, Chris Larosa, Emmett Peterson, Zain Ives, Evan
Devine, Braedon Mochrie, Brendan Shields; Coach John Coletta, and
Assistant Coaches Ross Halpern and Mike Cuttita on their outstanding
season and overall team record; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Shenendehowa Boys Varsity Volleyball Team, the
aforementioned coaches, Athletic Director Christopher Culnan, Principal
Ron Agostinoni and Superintendent Dr. Oliver Robinson.
