COMMENDING Timothy P. Pratt posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of a
Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this esteemed Body; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Timothy P.
Pratt posthumously upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; the Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency will
be honoring Timothy P. Pratt on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the County
Office Building in Ballston Spa, New York; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Born on January 9, 1961, Timothy P. Pratt was raised in
Glens Falls, New York by his parents Edward and Ruth Pratt; he graduated
from South Glens Falls schools in 1979; and

WHEREAS, Entering the United States Air Force on September 7, 1979,
Timothy P. Pratt bravely served as a Security Specialist with the 42nd
Security Forces Squadron; and

WHEREAS, For his courageous service, Timothy P. Pratt was awarded
the AF Training Ribbon, AF Commendation Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal and
the AF Longevity Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service on May 1, 1986,
Timothy P. Pratt was discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, Utilizing his skills to serve and protect, Timothy P. Pratt
began a distinguished career as a New York State Trooper on March 30,
1987; he was assigned to Troop G, patrolling out of the Wilton Barracks,
where he was assigned to the Traffic Incident Management detail; and

WHEREAS, Leading the 9/11 Memorial Ride from Albany to New York
City, Timothy P. Pratt was a member of the elite New York State Police
Motorcycle Unit; and

WHEREAS, Active in his community, Timothy P. Pratt was a member of
the American Legion Post 574 and an avid volunteer at various community
events, such as the South Glens Falls Marathon Dance; and

WHEREAS, Timothy P. Pratt died on October 26, 2016, at the age of
55; he is survived by his three children, James, Sarah and Shane; and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Timothy P. Pratt demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Timothy P. Pratt posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed
upon an individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Timothy P. Pratt.
