COMMENDING Timothy T. Vandenburgh posthumously
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this esteemed Body; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Timothy T.
Vandenburgh posthumously upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate, to be honored on Tuesday July
16, 2024, at the Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency's Deceased
Veterans Ceremony that will be held at the County Building on 40
McMaster St. in Ballston Spa, New York; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Born on May 22, 1948, Timothy T. Vandenburgh was raised by
his parents, Schuyler and Evelyn; he attended Galway High School in
Galway, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dedicating himself to two decades of service, Timothy T.
Vandenburgh joined the United States Navy on June 6, 1968; he served as
an Aviation Support Equipment Technician (Mechanical) and was assigned
to Naval Aviation units throughout his meritorious career, including:
Attack Squadron 81, NAS Cecil Field, Florida and Patrol Squadron 10, NAS
Brunswick, Maine; and

WHEREAS, Later in his career, Timothy T. Vandenburgh served as a
Navy Recruiter for two years in Albany, New York; he earned the rank of
Petty Officer First Class as he demonstrated his devotion to serve the
Nation; and

WHEREAS, For his courageous service, Timothy T. Vandenburgh was
awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2), Battle "E" Ribbon,
Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Fourth Good
Conduct Award, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, National Defense
Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service on August 31,
1988, Timothy T. Vandenburgh moved to the Town of Providence, New York;
he married the love of his life, Elizabeth, and together they had twins
named Elizabeth and Timothy; and

WHEREAS, Active in his community, Timothy T. Vandenburgh worked as a
Maintenance and Grounds Keeper for the Town of Providence; he also was a

member of the Fish House Fish and Game Club and the Foothills Trappers
Association; and

WHEREAS, Timothy T. Vandenburgh passed away on November 10, 2022;
and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Timothy T. Vandenburgh demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Timothy T. Vandenburgh posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed
upon an individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Timothy T. Vandenburgh.
