CONGRATULATING William K. Guglielmo upon the
occasion of his retirement after 50 years of
distinguished service to the Rome Area Chamber of
Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate William K. Guglielmo upon the occasion of his retirement
after 50 years of distinguished service to the Rome Area Chamber of
Commerce; and

WHEREAS, William "Bill" K. Guglielmo began his illustrious career
with the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce in February 1973 as a staff
assistant; during this time, the chamber was located on the second floor
of the Niagara Mohawk Building on Liberty Street; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, William K. Guglielmo worked his way up to Director of
Government Affairs & Membership Development, Administrator, and
Executive Vice-President, before becoming President in 1996, the
esteemed position from which he will officially retire; and

WHEREAS, Born in Rome, New York, William K. Guglielmo graduated from
Rome Free Academy in 1967; he earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in
Management Science from the University of Buffalo, and an Associate of
Applied Science degree in Business Administration from SUNY Morrisville;
and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary man dedicated his life's work to making
Rome a better place to live, work and raise a family; and

WHEREAS, A true pillar in his community, William K. Guglielmo has
been instrumental in the significant advancement of the City of Rome,
giving tirelessly of his time and energies to supporting businesses and
promoting economic growth for the past 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Through his dedication and tireless efforts, William K.
Guglielmo has helped make the City of Rome a place where families want
to live, tourists want to visit, and businesses want to locate; his
unwavering commitment, willingness and ability to understand and respond
to the concerns of the people of Rome, have made a substantial
contribution to the betterment of this community; and

WHEREAS, For a half-century, William K. Guglielmo rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by William K. Guglielmo over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate William K. Guglielmo upon the occasion of his retirement
after 50 years of distinguished service to the Rome Area Chamber of
Commerce, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William K. Guglielmo.
