HONORING Sergeant Karen Zaleski upon the occasion
of her retirement from the Cazenovia Police
Department after more than 20 years of dedicated
service

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sergeant
Karen Zaleski upon the occasion of her retirement from the Cazenovia
Police Department after more than 20 years of distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, Beginning her career in law enforcement in June 2001, Karen
Zaleski was hired as a corrections officer for the Madison County
Sheriff's Office; after graduating from the Little Falls Police Academy
in 2002, she joined the Cazenovia Police Department in March of that
year; and

WHEREAS, Karen Zaleski was brought on full-time by the Cazenovia
Police Department in March, 2003, and deservedly rose to the rank of
Sergeant in September, 2007; and

WHEREAS, A small sample of Sergeant Karen Zaleski's responsibilities
included supervising the patrol officers' day-to-day duties, completing
the department's policy and procedure, conducting trainings, and
ensuring that the department is following E-Justice guidelines; and

WHEREAS, Making a difference in the lives of residents in the
Cazenovia community, Sergeant Karen Zaleski has met citizens in their
worst moments and provided guidance and assistance to them, proving to
have been a compassionate and understanding police officer that
performed her duties with excellence; and

WHEREAS, Serving as an example to her peers, Sergeant Karen Zaleski
is an individual who has gone above and beyond to serve the Village of
Cazenovia; she has worked with many law enforcement recruits and
candidates, training and certifying them to become positive influences
in their communities; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sergeant Karen Zaleski upon the occasion of her retirement from
the Cazenovia Police Department after more than 20 years of dedicated
service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sergeant Karen Zaleski.
