COMMENDING Abu Bekr Temple No. 91, Oasis of
Brooklyn, Desert of New York, upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Potentates Ball on March 31-April
2, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Abu Bekr Temple No. 91, Oasis of Brooklyn, Desert of New York,
upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Potentates Ball on March
31-April 2, 2023, at Sonesta White Plains Downtown, White Plains, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious Ball honors the current
Illustrious Potentate and the members of Abu Bekr Temple No. 91 for
their ceaseless dedication to the local community, tirelessly giving of
their time and energies to countless initiatives and programs throughout
the year; and

WHEREAS, Abu Bekr Temple No. 91 is part of the Ancient Egyptian
Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its
Jurisdictions Incorporated, an organization which embraces the basic
fundamental concepts of the Masonic Order with a broader spectrum of
dispensing charity in the community; and

WHEREAS, Currently, there are 224 Constituent Temples throughout the
Imperial Domain (the World), with a membership of over 25,000 and
growing; and

WHEREAS, Abu Bekr Temple No. 91, Oasis of Brooklyn, Desert of New
York, was chartered on August 20, 1949, and is located on Pennsylvania
Avenue in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Officially incorporated in 1975, this vital organization
hosts several community feedings each year to serve the homeless and
others in need; furthermore, its back-to-school program supports local
youth, and its voter registration event ensures residents have access to
their right to vote; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 74-year history, Abu Bekr Temple No.
91 has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Abu Bekr Temple No. 91 is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its Illustrious Potentate and dedicated
members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and


WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Abu Bekr Temple No. 91;
and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Abu Bekr Temple No. 91, Oasis of Brooklyn, Desert of New York,
upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Potentates Ball on March
31-April 2, 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to commend Abu Bekr Temple No. 91, Oasis of Brooklyn, Desert
of New York.
