COMMEMORATING the 120th Anniversary of Utica First
Insurance Company in November of 2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Utica First Insurance Company in
November of 2023; and

WHEREAS, Over a century ago, a group of Utica, New York businessmen
decided the city's insurance needs would best be met by starting a local
company that could offer better custom service and rates than the
competition; and

WHEREAS, The Utica First Insurance Company of Oneida County, New
York was granted a charter to operate as an Advance Premium Co-op in
November of 1903; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Utica First Insurance Company has gone
through decades of gradual growth and profitability and is now a highly
respected, AM Best "A" rated regional insurance company; and

WHEREAS, Utica First Insurance Company has a strong history of
superior service to its policyholders and Independent Agent partners who
sell and service customers across nine states; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to their mission of "Keeping Insurance Simple,"
Utica First Insurance Company continues its efforts to continually
improve the company's products and to offer customers the best in
service; and

WHEREAS, The success of Utica First Insurance Company is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its President and CEO, Scott Shatraw, its
stakeholders and its dedicated staff, whose involvement is, and always
has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the company and the population it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Utica First Insurance Company in
November of 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Utica First Insurance Company.
