HONORING Marie "Jaja" Bain upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of a 2023
Women-N-Motion Empowerment Award by the Young,
Gifted & Black Entrepreneurial Awards Program
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community and their profession; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Marie "Jaja" Bain upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a
2023 Women-N-Motion Empowerment Award by the Young, Gifted & Black
Entrepreneurial Awards Program to be celebrated at its Awards Brunch on
Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Simpson Restaurant and Bar, Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Founded by Carl O. Gray, the Young, Gifted & Black (YGB)
Entrepreneurial Awards Program recognizes individuals who continue to
reach levels of great success through hard work and determination,
proving to be inspiring role models to their community and peers; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, in conjunction with the observance of Women's
History Month, this auspicious occasion features several outstanding
women who are leaders, motivators, business professionals, innovators
and entrepreneurs; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Marie "Jaja" Bain is
an accomplished mom, educator, change maker, event and boxing promoter,
and restaurateur; and
WHEREAS, A confident and fearless woman with a rigorous work ethic,
Jaja Bain is the Founder of i&i Entertainment Group LLC, HERStory
Lifestyles LLC, and Jaja's Boutique LLC, as well as a partner in Stush
NYC, a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant located in Williamsburg; and
WHEREAS, With a wide array of experience in a variety of sectors,
Jaja Bain is a humble and highly motivated self-starter, driven to
succeed; she graduated from City College University with a Master's
degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in
Criminal Justice from St. John's University; and
WHEREAS, Jaja Bain is a community-minded entrepreneur with Haitian
roots who was instilled with good business values by her parents from a
young age; she began event planning by providing holiday events for
young children in her home base of Brooklyn, and eventually produced
themed events and parties for adults in 1996; and
WHEREAS, With each event reaching capacity, Jaja Bain earned a
stellar reputation and the branding of her company, i&i Entertainment
Group LLC, continued to grow successfully; from that point on, she
focused on industry, corporate, celebrity and fashion clientele, working
with some of the most successful artists, executives, producers, DJ's
and athletes in the business; and
WHEREAS, In 2018, Jaja Bain became a female boxing promoter for one
of the top promotion companies in boxing, PBC/Team Watson; and
WHEREAS, Jaja Bain's illustrious promotion and event planning career
has consistently targeted the African-American, Caribbean-American, and
Hispanic consumer segments, making her a viable resource for brands who
want to focus their marketing efforts towards an ethnic demographic; and
WHEREAS, After years of experience, Jaja Bain's passion to empower
youth through education and events led her to establish HERStory
Lifestyles LLC in May of 2015, to inspire women and young girls to live
in their purpose by helping them to grow personally, professionally,
financially and spiritually through various workshops and master
classes; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Jaja Bain has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend
individuals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and
commitment toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and
acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and
young people; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marie "Jaja" Bain upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of a 2023 Women-N-Motion Empowerment Award by the Young,
Gifted & Black Entrepreneurial Awards Program; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Marie "Jaja" Bain.
