CONGRATULATING John Cruz upon the occasion of
being named the 2023 Youth of the Year by the
Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate John Cruz upon the occasion of being named the 2023 Youth
of the Year by the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club, to be celebrated
at its Club Donor Recognition Reception on Wednesday, April 19, 2023;
and

WHEREAS, Each year since 1947, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has
selected members for this honor who embody the values of leadership,
community service, academic excellence and good character; John Cruz
truly exemplifies those qualities; and

WHEREAS, A member of the Club since Kindergarten, John Cruz has
greatly benefited from the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club which has
enabled him to reach his full potential as a productive, caring,
responsible citizen; and

WHEREAS, John Cruz credits the Boys & Girls Club for helping him to
prioritize his homework over play and for providing him a safe place to
learn and grow; and

WHEREAS, As a longtime member and current Treasurer, John Cruz and
his peers have been involved in numerous local projects which have made
his community a better place to live, grow and work; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
fine young gentleman now stands honorably, with just pride in his
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club and his family; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate John Cruz upon the occasion of being named the 2023 Youth
of the Year by the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to John Cruz.
