HONORING The Desert Of New York for our
outstanding achievements in community service under
the leadership of HPIP Damien E. Hall and PC Glenda
A. Simmons

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
The Desert Of New York for our outstanding achievements in community
service under the leadership of HPIP Damien E. Hall and PC Glenda A.
Simmons, to be celebrated at The Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles
Mystic Shrine (A.E.A.O.N.M.S.) Desert Conference, which will be held
Friday, April 28, to Sunday April 30, 2023, in Latham, New York; and

WHEREAS, The weekend conference consists of a general membership
meeting where HPIP Damien E. Hall (251), Imperial Deputy Of The Desert,
and PC Glenda A. Simmons (171), Imperial Deputy For The Desert, will
address the membership; and

WHEREAS, Guests will include members of the Imperial Council and the
national governing body, who will address the members in attendance; and

WHEREAS, During this eventful weekend, those in the leadership of
their local Temples and Courts will attend workshops for the Presidents
(Illustrious Potentates and Commandresses), Secretaries, Treasurers, and
other local Temple and Court officers; and

WHEREAS, There will additionally be workshops on mental health and
the health concerns specific to members of the Desert Temple community;
and

WHEREAS, There is a tradition by which the host Temple and Court
arrange for the members at the conference to visit a local charity to
make a financial contribution to that local organization, truly going
out of their way to support the valued members of local communities; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, this organization has visited schools,
homeless shelters, hospitals, and nursing homes and financially donated
to their social programs that serve the community; charity is the basis
of the organization, and they are committed to making a difference in
the communities where there are local Temples and Courts; and

WHEREAS, The names of these illustrious Temples are as follows:
Medina Temple No. 19, New York, New York, Hadji Temple No. 61, Buffalo,
New York, Aleppo Temple No. 88, Syracuse, New York, Abu Bekr Temple No.
91, Brooklyn, New York, Al Tabari Temple No. 121, Albany, New York,
Elejmal Temple No. 185, Ossining, New York, Nyla Temple No. 238,

Watertown, New York, and Al Maseer Temple No. 251, Amityville, New York;
and

WHEREAS, The names of the esteemed Courts are as follows: Medina
Court No. 11, New York, New York, Al Tabari Court No. 28, Albany, New
York, Hadji Court No. 62, Buffalo, New York, Abu Bekr Court No. 140,
Brooklyn, New York, Elejmal Court No. 171, Ossining, New York, Al Maseer
Court No. 226, Amityville, New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Desert Of New York for our outstanding achievements in
community service under the leadership of HPIP Damien E. Hall and PC
Glenda A. Simmons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to HPIP Damien E. Hall and PC Glenda A. Simmons.
