MOURNING the death of Joseph John Cindrich, loving
husband, father and grandfather, distinguished
police officer, and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous police officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career
in faithful service to his family, community and the New Castle Police
Department; and

WHEREAS, Joseph "Joe" John Cindrich of Somers, New York, died on
Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the age of 69; and

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Joseph John Cindrich who upheld the
values of community life and who, through their great actions,
epitomized the best of humanity; and

WHEREAS, Joseph John Cindrich was born on December 31, 1953, in
Rockville Center, New York, to the late John and Mary (Williams)
Cindrich; and

WHEREAS, Joseph John Cindrich and the former Lori Hobby were united
in marriage on January 6, 1979, in Rye, New York; and

WHEREAS, Joseph John Cindrich distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Joseph John Cindrich began his illustrious career with the
Rye Police Department in 1978; two years later, he transferred to New
Castle Police Department where he climbed the ranks to become a
Detective Sergeant, and remained for nearly 20 years until his
retirement in 1998; and

WHEREAS, A truly generous man, Joseph John Cindrich was always there
to help his family and friends in any way he could; he had a way with
words and a sense of humor like no other; he loved to make people laugh
and tell stories; he was also an avid Yankee fan; and

WHEREAS, Joseph John Cindrich is survived by his loving wife, Lori
Cindrich; three children, Alicen (James), Joseph, and Stephen (Joy); his
siblings, John Michael Cindrich, Frederick Cindrich, Agnes Cindrich, and
Catherine Cindrich; and a grandson; Daniel; along with his loving golden
retriever, Chelly; he was predeceased by three siblings, Stephen J.
Cindrich, Mary Cindrich, and James Cindrich; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his meritorious life, Joseph John Cindrich
touched many through his kindness and commitment to service, and, as we
recall the loss of this great man, we memorialize his remarkable life
and the enormous impact he had on everyone with whom he came in contact;
and

WHEREAS, Joseph John Cindrich's infinite selflessness and
benevolence will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories;
his insight and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light
and hope to the countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Joseph John Cindrich leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joseph John Cindrich, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joseph John Cindrich.
