COMMENDING the Capitol Theatre of Rome, New York
upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Rome Arts
Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on May 7, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those cultural institutions and organizations whose
commitment to promoting the richness and diversity of the arts and
entertainment world has contributed to the strength, vitality, and
cultural enrichment of their communities and the great State of New
York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Capitol Theatre of Rome, New York upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Rome Arts Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Sunday,
May 7, 2023; and

WHEREAS, The Capitol Civic Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization;
its mission is to provide cultural and educational opportunities to the
community through the performing and visual arts in Rome, New York's
historic 1928 theater and auxiliary event spaces; and

WHEREAS, The Rome Arts Hall of Fame began in 2005 with a mission to
honor individuals, living or deceased, who have a strong connection to
the Rome community and have a significant involvement in the performing,
visual or literary arts; the class of 2023 is the sixteenth group to be
named to the Rome Arts Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, A performance by Rome Free Academy's show choir "Rhapsody"
will be a featured part of this year's program; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Capitol Theatre of Rome is a direct
result to the unceasing efforts of the staff, the surrounding community
at large, and the devotion of each Capitol Board Member: President,
Steve Merren; Vice President, Vicky Stockton; Treasurer, Doug Swarthout;
Secretary, Norm Landis; and Members, James Genovese, John A. Herbowy,
Esq., Maya Nelson, Joe Pfeiffer, Jr., Maria Rich, Roberta Striker, Ray
Tucker, Gail Tucker, and Dr. Mitchell Wilbert; and

WHEREAS, The arts are the building blocks of civilization; they are
central to human expression; they enlighten us and inspire the
imagination; educational institutions, individuals, and organizations
which further such worthy purposes richly merit the recognition and
appreciation of this Legislative Body and the people of the State of New
York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Capitol Theatre of Rome, New York upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Rome Arts Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on May 7,
2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Capitol Theatre of Rome, New York.
