COMMENDING the Junior Members of the East Norwich
Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 upon the occasion of
their designation as the NVFC National Junior
Firefighter Program of the Year and the FASNY Youth
Group of the Year on June 4, 2023

WHEREAS, The volunteer firefighters of New York State are renowned
throughout the Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in
the arduous field of fire protection and prevention; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the East Norwich Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 upon the occasion
of their designation as the NVFC National Junior Firefighter Program of
the Year and the FASNY Youth Group of the Year, to be celebrated on
Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the East Norwich Fire Company No. 1 Award
Ceremony; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer fire departments are an integral part of
community protection services in every locality of our State; the
courageous and devoted junior firefighters of East Norwich Fire Company
No. 1 have valiantly responded to all types of fire emergencies and have
rightfully won the praise and respect of the community which they serve;
and

WHEREAS, The two esteemed awards, the NVFC National Junior
Firefighter Program of the Year, and the FASNY Youth Group of the Year
Award, were awarded to the East Norwich Fire Company No. 1 as a direct
result of the commitment, diligence, and dedicated service of this
year's Junior Firefighters: Matthew Bambino; Xavier Canales; Talia
DelValle; Caitlin Dias; Robert Gobbo; Anthony Izquierdo; Lucas
Izquierdo; Omek Kumar; Michael Lewis; Khadeejah Memon; Clare Murcott;
William Myers; Anthony Petrizzo; Thomas Rahilly; Nick Syrett; Joseph
Travaglia; Ivy Valerie; Daniel Wulforst; and Steven Wulforst; and

WHEREAS, The brave junior volunteer firefighters of East Norwich
Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 are prepared to risk their lives every day
to help save the lives of others and to protect homes and property from
the destruction caused by fire; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that we should
give special recognition to those who work so assiduously for the
betterment of their communities, and acknowledge publicly the heroic
good works performed by the volunteer fire departments of this great
Empire State, their officers, and auxiliaries; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the East Norwich Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 upon the occasion
of their designation as the NVFC National Junior Firefighter Program of
the Year and the FASNY Youth Group of the Year on June 4, 2023; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned East Norwich Junior Firefighters.
