COMMEMORATING the 85th Anniversary of the First
Source Federal Credit Union
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the First Source Federal Credit
Union; this milestone was recently celebrated with board members and
employees, past and present; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate this event, First Source Federal Credit Union
will be conducting many initiatives throughout the year: for their
employees, there was an 80's themed event with many surprises to show
appreciation to the staff on May 3rd, employees were encouraged to dress
in 80's attire and play 80's music in their respective branches; and
WHEREAS, For the community, First Source Federal Credit Union will
be engaging in "85 Days of Giving," where the organization will perform
random acts of kindness for people and businesses in the community; in
honor of the 85th Anniversary, employees will receive $85 to donate to
their charity of choice; and
WHEREAS, Born out of necessity, First Source Federal Credit Union
provides financial services in the New Hartford, New York area for
educators; and
WHEREAS, The midst of the depression inspired First Source Federal
Credit Union's founding, as teachers struggled to secure credit; eleven
teaches applied to the National Credit Union Administration for a credit
union charter and Utica Teachers FCU was established; and
WHEREAS, First Source Federal Credit Union's mission is to help
members meet their financial goals and improve their lives; they offer
the best solution for their members' particular needs and have a unique
lending philosophy to help the community grow and thrive; and
WHEREAS, Serving over 60,000 members, First Source Federal Credit
Union currently has branches in New Hartford, South Utica, North Utica,
Herkimer, and Rome; they have services such as a Member Care Center,
Online and Mobile banking, and access to First Source Interactive ATMs,
as well as over 30,000 nationwide surcharge-free ATMs; and
WHEREAS, New this year, First Source Federal Credit Union has
launched Video Engagement Technology allowing members to interact with a
live First Source Financial Service Representative from any location; in
the near future, contactless card payment options for both Business and
Consumer credit and debit cards will be offered; and
WHEREAS, Further supporting the community, First Source Federal
Credit Union also provides customized financial education to the
community free of charge; they work with K-12 students and collegiate
students, as well as businesses and non-profits to aid in their
financial decisions; they also offer new home buyer seminars and
financial wellness reviews with free credit checks; and
WHEREAS, The exceptional leadership and ability of First Source
Federal Credit Union helps to cultivate a strong member and employee
loyalty which has led to their excellence; these employees are
characterized by an impressive commitment and an unbridled enthusiasm;
and
WHEREAS, The success of the First Source Federal Credit Union is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its President and CEO, Tom Neumann,
and its dedicated workforce who remain steadfastly committed to
improving the financial lives of its more than 60,000 members by
offering a full range of financial services and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of this vital
institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the First Source Federal Credit
Union; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to President and CEO Tom Neumann, First Source Federal
Credit Union.
