MOURNING the untimely death and paying tribute to
the life and heroic service of NYPD Officer Jonathan
Diller who died in the line of duty on March 25,
2024

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous police officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career
in faithful service to his family and to the residents of New York City;
and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Legislative Body
records the passing of NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, who made the
ultimate sacrifice while faithfully executing his responsibilities of
serving and protecting his community; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jonathan Diller exemplified what it truly means to
give of himself in providing vital police services in keeping with the
noble mission of the New York City Police Department; and

WHEREAS, A three-year member of the NYPD and a resident of
Massapequa Park, New York, Jonathan Diller, 31, died on Monday, March
25, 2024, after being shot during a traffic stop in Far Rockaway,
Queens; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jonathan Diller served the New York City Police
Department as a member of the Patrol Borough Queens South Community
Response Team with dedication, loyalty, and compassion, earning the
admiration, affection, and esteem of his brothers and sisters in blue;
and

WHEREAS, A true hero, Officer Jonathan Diller is survived by his
beloved wife, Stephanie; and their young son, Ryan; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jonathan Diller's infinite selflessness and
benevolence will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories;
his life of service and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love,
light and hope to the countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Officer Jonathan Diller leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man;
he will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the untimely death of NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, and to express
its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller.
