COMMENDING the Henrietta Public Library upon the
occasion of celebrating five years in its new
location on July 20, 2024

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary organizations whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its
citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Henrietta Public Library upon the occasion of celebrating
five years in its new location on July 20, 2024; and

WHEREAS, The new Henrietta Public Library opened its doors for the
first time on Saturday, July 20, 2019, and was designed to address
accessibility issues, increase efficiency, and address residents' needs;
and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Library Director Adrienne
Pettinelli, the new Henrietta Public Library began curbside pickup
service in March 2020, became an early voting and election day site for
Monroe County in 2021, began hosting Rush-Henrietta Central School
District's Art Show in 2021, eliminated overdue fines in September 2022,
and released its new website in November 2023; and

WHEREAS, With more digital resources, from 2019 to 2023 there was a
55 percent increase in the circulation of eBooks, 69,410 total logons to
public computers, and 394 total tech tutor appointments; furthermore,
there has been an increase in library visitors and events, and 12,502
residents of Henrietta have a library card; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Henrietta Public Library
connects individuals and unifies the community through learning and
culture; and

WHEREAS, The Henrietta Public Library has been an invaluable
resource for residents of Rochester, New York for many years; people
come to the library to connect, discover, and learn through story times,
book groups, and various programs for all ages; and

WHEREAS, A vital part of its community, this remarkable institution
has continually strived to provide outstanding service to a diverse
population of neighborhood residents; and

WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Henrietta Public Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of the many individuals who have
supported the development of the library over the years; and

WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the Henrietta
Public Library may take just pride in its purposeful growth, as it looks

forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and
intellectual needs of the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Henrietta Public Library upon the occasion of celebrating
five years in its new location on July 20, 2024; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Henrietta Public Library.
