CONGRATULATING Stephanie Crockatt upon the
occasion of her retirement after many years of
distinguished service to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks
Conservancy
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Stephanie Crockatt upon the occasion of her retirement
after many years of distinguished service to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks
Conservancy; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Crockatt joined the Buffalo Olmsted Parks
Conservancy in June of 2014, originally as the Director of Development;
she was later hired into the role of Executive Director in May of 2015;
and
WHEREAS, In her early career, Stephanie Crockatt transitioned from
golf course design to a career as the President and CEO of the LPGA
Tournament Owners Association; she left the nonprofit industry in 2007,
to lead the development team at the College of Environment & Design at
the University of Georgia, until she returned to Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, Buffalo is home to one of America's greatest environmental
treasures, the first coordinated urban park system in the country,
designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Stephanie Crockatt, the
Conservancy cares for six parks, seven parkways, eight traffic circles,
and three pocket parks, totaling 850 acres; the six major parks include
Delaware Park, Cazenovia Park, Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, Front Park,
Riverside Park, and South Park; and
WHEREAS, Stepanie Crockatt was instrumental in increasing the
Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy endowment and financial capabilities
to promote the well-being of the park; and
WHEREAS, As a dedicated leader, Stephanie Crockatt adeptly guided
the Conservancy through funding deficits, developed a five-year planning
mechanism, and launched the Young Professionals for Olmsted Parks
program, a 6-month networking program for young adults who want to be
involved with nonprofit management; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Crockatt's tireless work and advocacy during her
tenure with the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy embodied a vision and
philosophy that prioritized park health, neighborhood connectivity, and
provided welcoming spaces for all; and
WHEREAS, The Conservancy and the Buffalo public are indebted to
Stephanie Crockatt's consummate stewardship; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stephanie Crockatt upon the occasion of her retirement
after many years of distinguished service to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks
Conservancy, and to wish her continued success in all her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stephanie Crockatt.
