CONGRATULATING the Elmira High School Boys Bowling
Team upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA
Division 1 Bowling Championship on March 10, 2023

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Elmira High School Boys Bowling Team upon the occasion of capturing the
NYSPHSAA Division 1 Bowling Championship on Friday, March 10, 2023, at
Strike 'N Spare Lanes in Syracuse, New York; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Elmira High School Boys Bowling Team made an impressive comeback against
Hilton; Elmira Express boys trailed by 190 pins after the first two
games, but rallied the rest of the way and recorded a score of 1,036 in
the final game to secure the state title; and

WHEREAS, The totals for the Elmira High School Boys Bowling Team
were 1079, 998, 1060, 1134, 1007, and 1036, with a total pinfall of
6,314; their score won the title by 51 pins over Hilton and 92 pins over
New Hartford; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of black, white, and
red, family, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Elmira Express boys throughout their
journey as they ended their season remarkably with the first state title
for Elmira High School; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as bowling, which demands athletic prowess,
precision, and adaptability, Head Coach Tim Crout worked hard to hone
the skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding
athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the lanes;
and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Tim Crout and all of the outstanding athletes on
the Elmira High School Boys Bowling Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination, and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Elmira High School Boys Bowling Team,
Frankie D'angelo, Alex Gublo, Trent Belloma, Skylar Shadduck, Alex
Smith, Ty Bolt, and Head Coach Tim Crout on their outstanding season and

upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Division 1 Bowling
Championship on March 10, 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Elmira High School Boys Bowling Team
and Head Coach Tim Crout.
