Assembly Resolution No. 461

CONGRATULATING Viola D. Greene-Walker upon the
occasion of her retirement after 30 years of
distinguished service as District Manager of
Community Board No. 16
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Viola D. Greene-Walker upon the occasion of her retirement
after 30 years of distinguished service as District Manager of Community
Board No. 16; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Brooklyn College, Viola D. Greene-Walker has
served as the District Manager of Community Board No. 16, representing
the Ocean Hill-Brownsville community since 1993; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Viola D. Greene-Walker has been
responsible for the daily monitoring and coordination of municipal
services to the residents; as an advocate, she has interacted with
municipal service agencies to resolve complaints and improve the quality
of life for the 85,000 people who live in the community; and
WHEREAS, Viola D. Greene-Walker also worked closely with the members
of Community Board No. 16 to identify and assess the capital and expense
budget needs of the district as they relate to the citywide budget; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Viola D. Greene-Walker established
relationships with block and tenant associations, community-based
service agencies, churches, businesses, and elected officials within
Community District No. 16 in order to make it a better place to live,
work, learn and play; and
WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to Community
District No. 16, Viola D. Greene-Walker has been the recipient of
numerous awards and accolades; and
WHEREAS, For the past 30 years, Viola D. Greene-Walker rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to Community Board No. 16;
as District Manager, she served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Viola D. Greene-Walker was governed
by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human
problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with Community Board No. 16, Viola D.
Greene-Walker earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Viola D. Greene-Walker upon the occasion of her retirement
after 30 years of distinguished service as District Manager of Community
Board No. 16, and to wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Viola D. Greene-Walker.
