CONGRATULATING Nick LaMorte upon the occasion of
capturing the 138-pound Division I wrestling title
at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on February
25, 2023

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Nick
LaMorte upon the occasion of capturing the 138-pound Division I
wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on Saturday,
February 25, 2023, at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family,
friends and teammates, Nick LaMorte earned a decisive 6-1 victory over
his opponent from Monroe-Woodbury High School; and

WHEREAS, A standout wrestler for the Rocky Point Eagles, Nick
LaMorte ended his season with a perfect overall record of 44-0, and his
high school wrestling career with a 174-31 record; after graduating in
June of 2023, he plans to wrestle for the University of Oklahoma; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as wrestling, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Darren Goldstein worked hard to
hone the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete
lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the mat; and

WHEREAS, Nick LaMorte has clearly utilized dedication, determination
and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Nick LaMorte upon the occasion of capturing the 138-pound
Division I wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nick LaMorte and Head Coach Darren Goldstein.
