CONGRATULATING the Pace University Women's
Lacrosse Team upon the occasion of capturing the
2023 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship
on May 21, 2023

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in collegiate sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Pace University Women's Lacrosse Team upon the occasion of capturing the
2023 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship on Sunday, May 21,
2023; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the No. 3
ranked Pace University Women's Lacrosse Team completed its historic
season with a National Championship after defeating the No. 1 ranked
West Chester University in a decisive 19-9 win; and

WHEREAS, Winning the first title in program history, the 19 goals
were the most ever scored in a DII Women's Lacrosse championship game,
and the Setters are the first NCAA collegiate team in Westchester County
to win a National Championship; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school colors of blue and gold, family,
friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Setters throughout their journey as they ended their
season with an impressive overall record of 21-2; and

WHEREAS, The Setters joined 47 teams from schools across the country
who had won National Championships to be recognized on the South Lawn of
the White House as part of College Athlete Day; the team had the
unforgettable opportunity to be invited to the White House and to meet
Vice President Kamala Harris, who shared a speech; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as lacrosse, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Tricia Molfetta and her expert
coaching staff worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the field; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Tricia Molfetta and all of the outstanding
athletes on the Pace University Women's Lacrosse Team have clearly
utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting

contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Pace University Women's Lacrosse Team:
Jennifer Sommer, Maddie Schubert, Mackenzie Carita, Jolie Urraro, Alyssa
Dvorznak, Sasha Kulo, Delilah Doyle, Katie Long, Jordyn Mariano,
Alexandra Witucki, Emma Rafferty, Sydney Juvelier, Aleya Corretjer,
Alexandra Quinn, Audrey Colucci, Kayla Conway, Erin Bean, Margaret
Flocco, Natasha Franchina, Katie Smaldone, Lindsey Gelderman, Gigi
Genovese, Nikki Mottes, Alyssa Wolf, Katie Laico, Julianna Febbraio,
Angelina Porcello, Ashley Belfiore, Payton Durkin, Abigail O'Connor,
Samantha Tanguay; Assistant Coach Melissa Alamprese; and Head Coach
Tricia Molfetta on their outstanding season and overall team record; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Pace University Women's Lacrosse Team
and Head Coach Tricia Molfetta.
