CONGRATULATING Dr. Karl Kranz upon the occasion of
his retirement after more than 36 years as Executive
Director and Staff Counsel to New York State
Chiropractic Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Dr. Karl Kranz upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 36 years of dedicated service to the New York State
Chiropractic Association; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Dr. Karl Kranz worked diligently to
support the mission of the New York State Chiropractic Association which
is to remove any barriers that prevent patients from accessing the
services of doctors of chiropractic and provide a unified voice to
protect and advocate for doctors of chiropractic, chiropractic patients,
and the chiropractic profession; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Karl Kranz earned his Doctor of Chiropractic, summa cum
laude, and served as the class salutatorian from the Palmer College of
Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, in 1981; and

WHEREAS, In 1988, Dr. Karl Kranz became the Executive Director of
the New York State Chiropractic Association, charged with serving as the
Chief Executive Officer and managing the operations and affairs of the
Association; and

WHEREAS, In his role as Executive Director, Dr. Karl Kranz has hired
and managed staff, prepared annual budgets, assembled hundreds of
meetings involving the Association, supervised planning and agenda
development for meetings, reviewed contracts, and advised on issues of
importance to the profession and Association; and

WHEREAS, In 2001, Dr. Karl Kranz returned to academics and earned
his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the State University of New York,
University at Buffalo, John Lord O'Brian Hall School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Karl Kranz also became the General Counsel for the New
York State Chiropractic Association where he worked closely with
legislative counsel to assist in the drafting of legislation for the
Association's legislative agenda, helped with the drafting of memos in
support of, and opposition to, state and federal legislation, and
tracked and reported changes in state and federal healthcare and
insurance laws; and

WHEREAS, Prior to pursuing his chiropractic and legal careers, Dr.
Karl Kranz showed the ultimate bravery and sacrifice by enlisting in the
United States Army Signal Corps and served a full tour, which included
his stationing in Vietnam and Thailand, during the Vietnam War; and


WHEREAS, Dr. Karl Kranz continued to show his dedication and support
for others when he earned his Emergency Medical Technicians--Basic
(EMT-B) certification and served as an EMT for more than a decade,
further showing his compassion and embracing actions of the most heroic
magnitude; and

WHEREAS, An expert in his chosen fields, Dr. Karl Kranz has served
as a valued advisor and confidant to many colleagues throughout
approximately four decades of service; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Karl Kranz has shared his expertise and knowledge by
volunteering and serving on numerous committees for both chiropractic
and legal associations, acting as a presenter, panelist, and participant
for countless panels, forums, and entities; he has also extensively
written and published works on topics that are important to the
chiropractic profession, including scope of practice, insurance and
contract issues, and spinal care; and

WHEREAS, The expertise and knowledge that Dr. Karl Kranz possesses
have been recognized over the years through the conferring of various
awards and recognitions, including meritorious service awards,
distinguished service awards, awards of excellence, and most
significantly, the Ernest G. Napolitano Award, which is the highest
honor bestowed by the New York State Chiropractic Association, in
recognition of selfless contributions to the Association and the
profession; and

WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, Dr. Karl Kranz will be afforded more
time with his beautiful bride of 46 years, Antoinette Kranz, who will
also retire from her position of Administrative Assistant with the New
York State Chiropractic Association, thereby allowing the couple to
spend more time with their family and friends, including their two
children, Christian and Gabrielle, and to travel the world together; and

WHEREAS, For the past 36 years, Dr. Karl Kranz has rendered
faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the New York State
Chiropractic Association; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure, Dr. Karl Kranz has earned the
admiration, esteem, and affection of his clients, patients, and
colleagues; his leadership and expertise will be deeply missed by those
with whom he worked; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dr. Karl Kranz upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 36 years as Executive Director and Staff Counsel to the New
York State Chiropractic Association and to wish him continued success in
all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Karl Kranz.
