BILL NUMBER: S1816 SPONSOR: STAVISKY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to providing an exemption to the prohibition on tinted windows in automobiles for emer- gency ambulance service vehicles PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Amends vehicle and traffic law to allow for emergency ambulance service vehicles to have tinted windows SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1. Amends subdivision 12-a of section 375 vehicle and traffic law by adding a new paragraph (g) to provide an exemption to the prohi- bition on tinted windows in automobiles for emergency ambulance service vehicles. Section 2. Sets forth the effective date.

STAVISKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to providing an exemption to the prohibition on tinted windows in automobiles for emergency ambulance service vehicles THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 12-a of section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new paragraph (g) to read as follows: (G) ALL EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE VEHICLES, AS DEFINED IN SECTION ONE HUNDRED FIFTEEN-C OF THIS CHAPTER, SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM THE PROVISIONS OF PARAGRAPH (B) OF THIS SUBDIVISION. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05591-01-3
