BILL NUMBER: S2152 SPONSOR: PALUMBO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to granting court officers in the town of Shelter Island in Suffolk county peace officer status PURPOSE: This bill would grant court officers employed by the town of Shelter Island peace officer status. PALUMBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to granting court officers in the town of Shelter Island in Suffolk county peace officer status THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new subdivision 86 to read as follows: 86. PERSONS EMPLOYED BY THE TOWN OF SHELTER ISLAND IN SUFFOLK COUNTY AS A COURT OFFICER; PROVIDED, HOWEVER THAT NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE DEEMED TO AUTHORIZE SUCH COURT OFFICER TO CARRY, POSSESS, REPAIR OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW. § 2.
