BILL NUMBER: S2344 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the election law, in relation to requiring the board of elections to maintain a database of all campaign finance disclosure report filers and to provide a means to search such database for active filers PURPOSE: The purpose of this legislation is to facilitate searches on the New York State Board of Elections' website by distinguishing between active and inactive data. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the election law by adding a new section 14-123 which requires the board of election to maintain a database of all campaign finance disclosure report filters on its website and separate active from inactive committee filer's disclosure reports.

MYRIE, HOYLMAN-SIGAL, KRUEGER, SEPULVEDA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to requiring the board of elections to maintain a database of all campaign finance disclosure report filers and to provide a means to search such database for active filers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new section 14-123 to read as follows: § 14-123. DATABASE OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE DISCLOSURE REPORT FILERS. THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS SHALL MAINTAIN A DATABASE OF ALL CAMPAIGN FINANCE DISCLOSURE REPORT FILERS ON ITS WEBSITE. THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS SHALL ESTABLISH A MEANS TO LIMIT A SEARCH OF SUCH DATABASE TO DISPLAY ACTIVE FILERS ONLY. § 2. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
