BILL NUMBER: S2949 SPONSOR: SANDERS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing certain requirements for district leadership teams and school leadership teams PURPOSE: This legislation would require each District Leadership Team and School Leadership Team to appoint one student representative to serve as members of such teams for the New York City public school system. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section One: Requires each District Leadership Team and School Leader- ship Team to appoint one student representative to serve as members of such teams for the New York City public school system. SANDERS, BRISPORT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on New York City Education AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing certain requirements for district leadership teams and school leadership teams THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Title 21-A of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new chapter 23-A to read as follows: CHAPTER 23-A LEADERSHIP TEAMS § 21-990.1 STUDENT LEADERSHIP. A. EACH DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM AND SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM SHALL APPOINT ONE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF SUCH TEAMS. B. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES APPOINTED TO A DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM SHALL BE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES AND SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE COMMUNITY SUPERINTENDENT. C. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES APPOINTED TO SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAMS SHALL BE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES AND SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE CHAIRPERSON OR CO-CHAIRPERSONS OF SUCH TEAM. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
