BILL NUMBER: S389 SPONSOR: CLEARE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to directing the division of criminal justice services to develop a human trafficking interceptors program PURPOSE: To direct the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) develop a human trafficking interceptors program. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one adds a new Section to the Executive Law directing the Divi- sion of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to develop a human trafficking interceptors program. Section 2 provides the effective date--immediate.

CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to directing the division of criminal justice services to develop a human trafficking intercep- tors program THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 837 of the executive law is amended by adding a new subdivision 24 to read as follows: 24. IN COOPERATION WITH ANY OTHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE AGENCY, INCLUDING LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, DEVELOP A HUMAN TRAFFICKING INTERCEPTORS PROGRAM. THE DIVISION MAY ISSUE APPROPRIATE GUIDELINES AND MAY ADOPT, AMEND OR RESCIND ANY RULES AND REGULATIONS AS MAY BE NECESSARY OR CONVENIENT TO THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
