 Introduced  by  Sen.  CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations,  Authorities
   and Commissions
 
 AN  ACT directing the metropolitan transportation authority to study the
   transportation and housing needs of Randalls and Wards Islands

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. The metropolitan transportation authority, in consultation
 with the New York city department of transportation and  New  York  city
 department  of  housing  preservation  and  development, shall conduct a
 comprehensive study of the transportation and housing needs of  Randalls
 and  Wards  Islands.  Such  study  shall include, but not be limited to,
 increasing the frequency of bus service from Randalls and Wards  Islands
 to  all  connected boroughs and the development of affordable housing on
 Randalls and Wards Islands.
   § 2. The metropolitan transportation authority, New York city  depart-
 ment of transportation and New York city department of housing preserva-
 tion  and  development,  shall  jointly  prepare a report which shall be
 submitted to the governor, the temporary president of  the  senate,  the
 speaker  of  the  assembly,  the  minority  leader of the senate and the
 minority leader of the assembly, within one  year  after  the  effective
 date  of this act, containing findings and recommendations for potential
 legislative and regulatory actions to  address  the  transportation  and
 housing needs of Randalls and Wards Islands.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
