BILL NUMBER: S5730 SPONSOR: MANNION TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to prohibiting the sale and distribution of mercury-added lamps; and to repeal certain provisions of such law relating thereto PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit the sale, offer for sale, or distribution of mercury-added lamps beginning January 1, 2026. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of this bill would prohibit the sale, offer for sale, or distribution of mercury-added lamps on or after January, 2026. Section 2 of this bill would repeal subdivision 11 of section 27-2107 of the Environmental Conservation Law.

MANNION -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to prohibiting the sale and distribution of mercury-added lamps; and to repeal certain provisions of such law relating thereto THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 27-2107 of the environmental conservation law is amended by adding a new subdivision 13 to read as follows: 13. ON AND AFTER JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-SIX, NO PERSON SHALL SELL, OFFER FOR SALE, OR DISTRIBUTE MERCURY-ADDED LAMPS. § 2. Subdivision 11 of section 27-2107 of the environmental conserva- tion law is REPEALED. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that section two of this act shall take effect January 1, 2026.
