   printed to be committed to the Committee on Housing, Construction  and
   Community Development
 
 AN  ACT to amend the public housing law, in relation to requiring public
   housing authorities with housing complexes containing one  hundred  or
   more  units  to provide food and drinking water for all tenants in the
   affected buildings each day of a water service disruption
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The public housing law is amended by adding a new section
 229 to read as follows:
   § 229. WATER SERVICE DISRUPTION. 1.  FOR  PUBLIC  HOUSING  AUTHORITIES
 WITH  HOUSING  COMPLEXES  CONTAINING  ONE  HUNDRED OR MORE UNITS, IN THE
 EVENT OF A DISRUPTION IN WATER SERVICES THAT REQUIRES A PAUSE OF  TENANT
 USE OF WATER FOR DRINKING OR COOKING LASTING OVER TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, THE
 HOUSING  AUTHORITY  SHALL PROVIDE THREE MEALS OR THREE MEAL VOUCHERS AND
 DRINKING WATER FOR EACH RESIDENT IN THE AFFECTED BUILDINGS EACH  DAY  OF
 THE  DISRUPTION,  INCLUDING AN OPTION FOR HOMEBOUND RESIDENTS TO RECEIVE
 MEALS AND WATER DIRECTLY.
   2. THE AUTHORITY SHALL NOTIFY RESIDENTS OF MEAL AND WATER AVAILABILITY
 THROUGH WRITTEN NOTICE AND IN CONJUNCTION  WITH  ALL  COMMUNICATIONS  TO
 RESIDENTS REGARDING THE DISRUPTION. SUCH NOTICE SHALL INCLUDE:
   A. THE LOCATION AND TIME MEALS, MEAL VOUCHERS AND WATER WILL BE AVAIL-
 ABLE TO RESIDENTS EACH DAY; AND
   B.  THE PROCEDURE FOR HOMEBOUND INDIVIDUALS TO RECEIVE MEALS AND WATER
 DIRECTLY.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
