CANZONERI-FITZPATRICK -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Trans- portation AN ACT to amend the transportation law, in relation to a New York state route 878, Nassau Expressway study; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The transportation law is amended by adding a new section 23 to read as follows: § 23. NEW YORK STATE ROUTE 878, NASSAU EXPRESSWAY STUDY. 1. THE DEPARTMENT, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES, THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, THE GOVERNOR'S TRAFFIC SAFE- TY COMMITTEE, LOCAL POLICE AGENCIES, THE LOCAL SENATE AND ASSEMBLY REPRESENTATIVES, LOCAL TRANSPORTATION ENTITIES IN NASSAU AND QUEENS COUNTIES, LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAKEHOLDERS, AND ANY OTHER AGENCY OR GROUP THE DEPARTMENT DEEMS NECESSARY TO ENLIST THE AID OF, SHALL CONDUCT A STUDY TO EVALUATE THE COSTS OF COMPLETING THE CONSTRUCTION OF STATE ROUTE 878 IN NASSAU AND QUEENS COUNTIES. SUCH STUDY SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, STUDY AND EVALUATION OF THE ORIGINAL PLANS FROM CIRCA NINETEEN HUNDRED FORTY AND STUDIES OF NEW YORK CITY ARTERIAL COOR- DINATOR ROBERT MOSES, THE NINETEEN HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NASSAU COUNTY MASTER PLAN, THE TWO THOUSAND TWELVE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SCOPING REPORT OF THE SOUTHEAST QUEENS TRANSPORTATION STUDY, DESIGN AND SAFETY OF THE CONFIGURATION AND SIGNAGE OF ENTRANCE AND EXIT RAMPS; THE ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF THE PROJECT; THE ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE PROJECT; THE IMPACT CONSTRUCTION WILL HAVE ON LOCAL TRAFFIC PATTERNS; AND FEDERAL FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS. THE DEPARTMENT IS AUTHORIZED TO CONDUCT ANY HEAR- INGS IT DEEMS NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION.
