BILL NUMBER: S7438 SPONSOR: ROLISON TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize Brian Levy of the village of Wappingers Falls to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police officer for the village of Wappingers Falls police department PURPOSE:; To allow Brian Levy to sit for the civil service examination for police officer and contingent on his score be placed on the eligible list for appointment. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 deems Brian Levy eligible to sit for the competitive civil service examination for police officer and, contingent on his score shall be eligible for placement on the eligible list for appointment.

ROLISON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to authorize Brian Levy of the village of Wappingers Falls to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police officer for the village of Wappingers Falls police department THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, including the age requirements under paragraph (a) of subdivision 1 of such section, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Brian Levy, employed by the village of Wappingers Falls, in the county of Dutchess, as a part-time police officer, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full- time police officer with the village of Wappingers Falls police depart- ment. § 2. Brian Levy shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi- cers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
