BILL NUMBER: S8975 SPONSOR: SCARCELLA-SPANTON TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to exempting health care workers from congestion pricing SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Amends Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law by stip- ulating that the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority shall implement a plan to provide credits or exemptions for tolls issued to health-care workers on bridges and crossings. Section 2. This act shall take effect thirty (30) days after it becomes law. Any additions, amendments, or repeals of any rule or regulation necessary for this act's implementation is effective immediately. SCARCELLA-SPANTON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to exempting health care workers from congestion pricing THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new subdivision 5 to read as follows: 5. THE TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE AND TUNNEL AUTHORITY SHALL IMPLEMENT A PLAN FOR CREDITS AND/OR EXEMPTIONS FOR TOLLS PAID ON BRIDGES AND CROSSINGS FOR ALL HEALTH CARE WORKERS. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, "HEALTH CARE WORKER" SHALL MEAN ANY PERSON WORKING AS A PHYSICIAN, PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANT, NURSE PRACTITIONER, REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE, LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE, CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST, CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT, PHYSIOTHERAPIST, CHIROPRACTOR, MEDICAL ASSISTANT, SPECIALIST ASSISTANT, PATHOLOGISTS' ASSISTANT, MEDICAL TECHNICIAN, RESPIRATORY THERAPY TECHNICIAN, MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST, DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER, EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN, PARAMEDIC, PHLEBOTOMIST, CLINICAL SUPPORT AID AND ANY OTHERS RECOMMENDED BY THE TRAFFIC MOBILITY REVIEW BOARD. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
