   printed to be committed to the Committee on Agriculture
 
 AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to defining
   therapeutic agriculture for purposes of community gardens
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1. Section 31-g of the agriculture and markets law is amended
 by adding a new subdivision 7 to read as follows:
   7. "THERAPEUTIC AGRICULTURE" SHALL MEAN THE USE OF AGRICULTURAL ACTIV-
 ITIES, INCLUDING FARMING, GARDENING, AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, AS A MEANS OF
 PROMOTING PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING, REHABILITATION, AND
 THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH PHYSICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, DISA-
 BILITIES OR OTHER SPECIAL NEEDS.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
