BILL NUMBER: S9349 SPONSOR: SALAZAR TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to transportation aid PURPOSE: To limit the allowable transportation aid for the "after 4pm" busing program to a formula tied to the personal income growth index for the 2025-26 school year and thereafter SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends subdivision 4 of section 3527 of the education law by adding language that would limit the allowable transportation aid pursu- ant to this section by a formula tied to the personal income growth index for the 2025-26 school year and thereafter Section 2 is the effective date

SALAZAR, FELDER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to transportation aid THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 3627 of the education law, as amended by section 13-a of part A of chapter 56 of the laws of 2024, is amended to read as follows: 4. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, any expenditures for transportation provided pursuant to this section in the two thousand thirteen--two thousand fourteen school year and thereafter and otherwise eligible for transportation aid pursuant to subdivision seven of section thirty-six hundred two of this article shall be consid- ered approved transportation expenses eligible for transportation aid, provided further that for the two thousand thirteen--two thousand four- teen school year such aid shall be limited to eight million one hundred thousand dollars and for the two thousand fourteen--two thousand fifteen school year such aid shall be limited to the sum of twelve million six hundred thousand dollars plus the base amount and for the two thousand fifteen--two thousand sixteen school year through two thousand eigh- teen--two thousand nineteen school year such aid shall be limited to the sum of eighteen million eight hundred fifty thousand dollars plus the base amount and for the two thousand nineteen--two thousand twenty school year such aid shall be limited to the sum of nineteen million three hundred fifty thousand dollars plus the base amount and for the two thousand twenty--two thousand twenty-one school year such aid shall be limited to the sum of nineteen million eight hundred fifty thousand dollars plus the base amount and for the two thousand twenty-two--two thousand twenty-three school year such aid shall be limited to the sum of twenty-two million three hundred fifty thousand dollars plus the base amount and for the two thousand twenty-three--two thousand twenty-four school year such aid shall be limited to the sum of twenty-four million eight hundred fifty thousand dollars plus the base amount and for the two thousand twenty-four--two thousand twenty-five school year [and EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
