BILL NUMBER: S9593 SPONSOR: JACKSON TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to affording certain uniformed members of the fire department pension fund with an increased pension benefit for each year of addi- tional service beyond their required minimum service PURPOSE: Adoption of this legislation would afford certain improved benefits plan members of the fire department pension fund an increased pension benefit for each year of continued service beyond their required minimum service, or a fraction thereof, computed at a rate of one-fortieth of their final average salary. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill would amend Section § 13-359, subdivision a. 2. (a) of the Administrative Code of the City of New York to provide certain improved

JACKSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to affording certain uniformed members of the fire department pension fund with an increased pension benefit for each year of addi- tional service beyond their required minimum service THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraph (a) of paragraph 2 of subdivision a of section 13-359 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended to read as follows: (a) a pension of [one-sixtieth] ONE-FORTIETH of [his or her] SUCH MEMBER'S average annual earnings from [his or her] THEIR date of eligi- bility for retirement to the actual date of retirement; and § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. FISCAL NOTE.--Pursuant to Legislative Law, Section 50: SUMMARY: This proposed legislation would increase the additional annu- al pension for Tier 2 New York City Fire Pension Fund (FIRE) members who retire with more than 20 years of service from 1/60th to 1/40th of total annual earnings after reaching 20 years of credited service.
