BILL NUMBER: S9742 SPONSOR: SALAZAR TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to members of a mobile crisis team PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To ensure peers and mental health professionals are members of a mobile crisis team. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends mental hygiene law section 36.03 to require a mobile crisis team to include any combination of, but not be limited to behav- ioral professionals, certified peer specialists, certified recovery peer advocates, credentialed family peer advocates, and credentialed youth peer advocates. Section 2 sets the effective date.

SALAZAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Mental Health AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to members of a mobile crisis team THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph 11 of subdivision (a) of section 36.03 of the mental hygiene law, as added by section 2 of part EE of chapter 57 of the laws of 2022, is amended to read as follows: (11) "Mobile crisis teams" means a team licensed, certified, or authorized by the office of mental health and the office of addiction services and supports to provide community-based mental health or substance use disorder interventions for individuals who are experienc- ing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis. Members of a mobile crisis team [may] SHALL include ANY COMBINATION OF, but not be limited to: behavioral health professionals, certified peer specialists, certified recovery peer advocates, credentialed family peer advocates, and credentialed youth peer advocates. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13096-03-4
