 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to expanding  Medi-
   caid coverage to include neuropsychological exams for dyslexia
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 365-a of the social  services  law
 is amended by adding a new paragraph (nn) to read as follows:
   (NN)  COMPREHENSIVE NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR DYSLEXIA, UPON
 THE REFERRAL OF A PHYSICIAN, WHEN PERFORMED BY  A  HEALTH  CARE  PROFES-
 SIONAL LICENSED, CERTIFIED, OR AUTHORIZED PURSUANT TO TITLE EIGHT OF THE
 EDUCATION  LAW  AND ACTING WITHIN THEIR SCOPE OF PRACTICE AND IN ACCORD-
 ANCE WITH THIS PARAGRAPH.  THIS PARAGRAPH SHALL NOT EXCLUDE COVERAGE FOR
 THE SCREENING, DIAGNOSIS OR TREATMENT OF MEDICAL CONDITIONS.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
 it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition,  amend-
 ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
 tation  of  this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and
 completed on or before such effective date.
