 AN ACT to amend the public health law,  in  relation  to  requiring  the
   commissioner  of  health  to conduct a study on banning private equity
   ownership in hospice care
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The  public health law is amended by adding a new section
 4016 to read as follows:
   § 4016. STUDY ON PRIVATE EQUITY OWNERSHIP  IN  HOSPICE  CARE.  1.  THE
 COMMISSIONER,  IN  CONSULTATION  WITH  THE  SUPERINTENDENT  OF FINANCIAL
 SERVICES, SHALL CONDUCT  A  STUDY  CONSIDERING  BANNING  PRIVATE  EQUITY
 OWNERSHIP IN HOSPICE CARE IN THE STATE.
   2.  NOT  LATER  THAN  FEBRUARY  FIRST,  TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-SEVEN, THE
 COMMISSIONER SHALL SUBMIT A REPORT ON THE RESULTS OF SUCH STUDY  TO  THE
 ASSEMBLY,  THE  SENATE,  AND  THE GOVERNOR AND MAKE SUCH REPORT PUBLICLY
 AVAILABLE ON THE DEPARTMENT'S WEBSITE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
