PRETLOW -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to decreasing the prohibited distance of parking near a fire hydrant THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph 1 of subdivision (b) of section 1202 of the vehi- cle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 574 of the laws of 2006, is amended to read as follows: 1. No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle within [fifteen] TEN feet of a fire hydrant except when such vehicle is attended by a licensed operator or chauffeur who is seated in the front seat and who can immediately move such vehicle in case of emergency, unless a differ- ent distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07679-01-5
