2025-A5759 (ACTIVE) - Summary
Requires the state fire prevention and building code council to adopt uniform fire prevention and building code standards requiring buildings have their address numbers, building numbers, or approved building identification placed at least three feet above ground level where plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property.

K. BROWN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring buildings have their building identification visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 20 of section 378 of the executive law, as renumbered by section 3 of part RR of chapter 56 of the laws of 2023, is renumbered subdivision 21 and a new subdivision 20 is added to read as follows: 20. STANDARDS REQUIRING THAT BUILDINGS PLACE THEIR ADDRESS NUMBERS, BUILDING NUMBERS, OR APPROVED BUILDING IDENTIFICATION AT LEAST THREE FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL WHERE PLAINLY VISIBLE AND LEGIBLE FROM THE STREET OR ROAD FRONTING THE PROPERTY. § 2.
