CUNNINGHAM -- read once and referred to the Committee on Local Governments AN ACT establishing the "New York municipal asset forfeiture account- ability act" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as the "New York municipal asset forfeiture accountability act". § 2. Notwithstanding any other section of law, the funds resulting from any assets lawfully seized by any county sheriff, or any other municipal police agency, that are forfeited from the original owner, shall be dedicated to such municipalities' general fund. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD10031-01-5
