 AN  ACT  to  allow  Christopher Collins to be eligible to take the civil
   service exam for the position of police  officer  for  the  Saugerties
   police department
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of  the  civil
 service  law  or any other provision of law to the contrary, Christopher
 Collins shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examina-
 tion for the position of police officer and shall, contingent  upon  his
 score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list
 for appointment as a full-time police officer with the Saugerties police
 department in the town of Saugerties, county of Ulster.
   §  2.  Christopher Collins shall otherwise be subject to the merit and
 fitness provisions of the civil  service  law  applicable  to  full-time
 deputy sheriffs.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
