HONORING Chief David M. Reynolds upon the occasion
of the naming of a park in New Hartford, New York,
in recognition of his remarkable life

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Chief David
M. Reynolds upon the occasion of the naming of a park in New Hartford,
New York, in recognition of his remarkable life on Saturday, November
30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, David M. Reynolds joined the New Hartford Fire Department
in March of 1967; throughout his illustrious tenure which traversed more
than 50 years, he has held several positions within the Department
including: Lieutenant (1974), 2nd Lieutenant (1975-76), Captain (1977),
2nd Deputy Chief (1978-79), Assistant Chief (1980), and Chief
(1981-2005); and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he currently serves as Director of the New
Hartford Fire Department Benevolent Association, a title he has held
since 2013; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his service with the New Hartford Fire
Department, David M. Reynolds served as President of the Oneida County
Fire Chiefs Association and as Chief of Utica's Engine 11 Foundation; he
was elected as a New Hartford Town Councilman in 2006, and continues to
serve today; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 56 years, Doreen,
and their four daughters, as well as four grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, A true inspiration to all for his unwavering dedication to
the community he so ably serves, David M. Reynolds has been called upon
to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which David M. Reynolds has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief David M. Reynolds upon the occasion of the naming of a park

in New Hartford, New York, in recognition of his remarkable life; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief David M. Reynolds.
