HONORING Richard P. Creedon upon the occasion of
his retirement after 26 years of distinguished
service to Utica National Insurance
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Richard P. Creedon upon the occasion of his retirement after 26 years of
distinguished service to Utica National Insurance; and
WHEREAS, For the past 26 years, Richard P. Creedon rendered
faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to Utica National
Insurance; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as CEO and Chairman, Richard P. Creedon
served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, A summa cum laude graduate of Framingham State College,
Richard P. Creedon earned a juris doctorate from the University of New
Hampshire School of Law, and is a member of the New Hampshire Bar
Association and the American Society of Workers Compensation
Professionals; and
WHEREAS, Richard P. Creedon joined Utica National Insurance in 1998
as Assistant Vice President and Director of Workers Compensation Claims;
following his promotion to Vice President/Senior Claims Officer in 2001,
Richard P. Creedon assumed the responsibility for managing the claims
department; and
WHEREAS, Richard P. Creedon was named Senior Vice President in 2003
and assumed the post of General Counsel and Senior Claims Officer the
following year; he was then promoted to Executive Vice President in
2007, and in December 2013, was appointed to the esteemed position of
President and Chief Operating Officer of the company; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, Richard P. Creedon began his tenure as President
and Chief Executive Officer of Utica National Insurance, the revered
position from which he will retire; and
WHEREAS, Active in his field, Richard P. Creedon is also a Board
Member of the Insurance Information Institute, the American Property
Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA), and the APCIA PAC; he is also on
the Benefits & Compensation Committee of the APCIA, and is a Director of
Mohawk Valley Edge and a Council Member of the Mohawk Valley Regional
Economic Development Council; and
WHEREAS, Richard P. Creedon also has served as Chairperson of the
New York Special Funds Executive Committee and as a Board Member of the
Property & Liability Resource Bureau (PLRB); he is also a past member of
the Defense Research Institute and the American Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Richard P. Creedon was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with Utica National Insurance, Richard P.
Creedon earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of his colleagues;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Richard P. Creedon upon the occasion of his retirement after 26
years of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Richard P. Creedon.
