CONGRATULATING Sidney J. DeRollo upon the occasion
of celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Sidney J. DeRollo upon the occasion of his 100th Birthday
to be celebrated on Sunday, October 27, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Sidney J. DeRollo was born on October 27, 1924; and

WHEREAS, Born in Frankfort, New York to parents Bridget DeRollo and
Rocco DeRollo, Sidney J. DeRollo attended schools in the
Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District and graduated from
Frankfort-Schuyler High School; and

WHEREAS, Sidney J. DeRollo, with a true sense of pride for his
country, enlisted in the United States Army on February 22, 1943, where
he served in North Africa, France, Italy, and England during World War
II; and

WHEREAS, For his courageous service during the war, Sidney J.
DeRollo was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,
Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal before his Honorable
Discharge from the military on January 27, 1946; and

WHEREAS, Before returning home to the United States following his
service in World War II, Sidney J. DeRollo remained in England for a
stint while he attended Shrivenham University; and

WHEREAS, Back in the United States, Sidney J. DeRollo attended Mount
St. Mary's College in Maryland where he studied Pre-Medicine; and

WHEREAS, On December 27, 1947, Sidney J. DeRollo married his high
school sweetheart and love of his life, Lena Maneen; together, the
couple had eight beloved children: Ronald DeRollo (Terri DeRollo),
Sydney Solomon (Mark Solomon), Robert DeRollo, Rocco DeRollo (Mary
Holmes), James DeRollo (Diane DeRollo), Susan DiSano, Bridget DeRollo,
and Michael DeRollo (Dorri DeRollo); and

WHEREAS, Sidney J. DeRollo and his cherished wife Lena celebrated a
remarkable 75 years of marriage on December 27, 2022; throughout their
lifetime, they have dedicated their lives to their community and
established an unwavering commitment to family and the upholding of
family traditions; and


WHEREAS, Sidney J. DeRollo and wife, Lena DeRollo, both faithfully
attended Catholic Church in Frankfort, New York, every Sunday; for
years, Sidney was a lectern of the mass and a Eucharistic Minister of
Holy Communion; and

WHEREAS, Their family has grown exponentially with a total of 18
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom Sidney J. DeRollo
admires deeply; and

WHEREAS, On January 21, 2023, Sidney J. DeRollo lost the love of his
life and a piece of his heart in his wife, Lena DeRollo; and

WHEREAS, Sidney J. DeRollo, with his zest for life, has inspired and
enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and

WHEREAS, Sidney J. DeRollo has enriched the lives of those around
him through his joyous and sincere love for others and through the
profound charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments, and
magnificent achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sidney J. DeRollo upon the occasion of celebrating his
100th Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sidney J. DeRollo.
