CONGRATULATING the Mohawk Valley Community College
Men's Soccer Team upon the occasion of capturing the
NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on
November 17, 2024
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in college sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Mohawk Valley Community College Men's Soccer Team upon the occasion of
capturing the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) Men's Soccer Team won its first
national championship in program history after defeating six-time
defending champions Dallas Richland 2-1 on Sunday, November 17, 2024,
during the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship hosted by
Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of green and gray, the
community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Hawks
throughout their journey as they ended their dream season with an
impressive 14-2-3 overall record; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as soccer, which demands athletic prowess,
speed and agility, and mental toughness, Head Coach Dominic DiMaggio and
Assistant Coaches Grant Calogero and Adnan Bakalovic worked hard to hone
the skills of this outstanding team, teaching these incredible athletes
lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Dominic DiMaggio and all of the outstanding
athletes on the MVCC Men's Soccer Team have clearly utilized dedication,
determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Mohawk Valley Community College Men's
Soccer Team: Asim Gacic, Jaime Mata, Tony Gjomemo, Daniel Beltran,
Victor Marconato Paganini, David Perez Salgado, Felipe Machado,
Souayibou Diop, Joao Vitor Fuentes, Santiago Molina Villafane, Gustavo
Nunes, Dani Rojas Cubillas, Davi Pena Moretzsohn, David Kamara, Kevin
Binde, Adelin Buljubasic, Jorge Angeles, Georgios Spyrou, Lucas Lacerda,
Alejandro Limardo Vasquez, Ahmadou Amar, Carlos Alberto Martins Neto,
Mihajlo Jankovic, Ervin Ruznic, Dereck Correa, Andrew Dischiavo, Javier
Montesinos Da Torre, Ale Seho, Oscar Otero Navarro, Cristopher Torres
Alvaro, Dan Shmat, Dosseh Awoussi, Amir Halilovic, Roman Kulev, Jared
Palacios, Joao Victor Prado, Caio Santana, Josh Gorgas, Malone Vanstone,
Leo Elsdon, Nidal Ramic, Chrishaun McKenzie, Raphael Augustus Garofalo,
Jesus Sanchez, and Denilson Solis-Munoz; Head Coach Dominic DiMaggio;
and Assistant Coaches Grant Calogero and Adnan Bakalovic; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Mohawk Valley Community College Men's
Soccer Team, Head Coach Dominic DiMaggio, and Assistant Coaches Grant
Calogero and Adnan Bakalovic.
