COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of The Woman's
Club of Larchmont

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of The Woman's Club of Larchmont; and

WHEREAS, The Woman's Club of Larchmont was founded in 1925 by 12
women with a vision to influence the community positively by working
together; and

WHEREAS, The Woman's Club of Larchmont has three core objectives:
supporting civic and philanthropic organizations, promoting education
and the arts, and discussing public interest topics; and

WHEREAS, The impact of the club spans across different areas of
life; it was instrumental in the creation of the Larchmont Public
Library, provides numerous scholarships to students, and helps to
provide basic support for children in need, all of which have profound,
positive impacts in the club's community and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Philanthropy is a core value of The Woman's Club of
Larchmont; their charitable efforts include donations of food, pet food,
hygiene products, diapers, and money to local organizations such as the
Hope Food Pantry and World Central Kitchen; supporting the Stem Alliance
and the Interfaith Prison Partnership; hosting a Philanthropic Luncheon,
the club's main fundraiser annually in spring which holds silent
auctions with locally donated items; and

WHEREAS, In addition to hosting speakers on a wide range of topics,
The Woman's Club of Larchmont holds a Book and Author Luncheon every
December, highlighting Westchester authors; and

WHEREAS, Now 100 years old, The Woman's Club of Larchmont continues
to draw dynamic women from all corners of the community; it is a source
of new friendships, fresh perspectives, and opportunities to help
others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of The Woman's Club of Larchmont; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Woman's Club of Larchmont.
